What hidden ingredients should I be looking for when buying groceries. There are sooo many it seems tedious, but I want to make sure I am doing this right.

Hi Katherine!  Welcome to the Community.  I would definitely recommend buying a starter book on veganism.  This Community can help answer a lot of questions and offer support, but it's best to have a primer at your fingertips.

Here are a few lists I Googled and found:

For books, I would recommend Main Street Vegan by Victoria Moran.  Simple recipes and lots of logic and tips to get you started.

I agree with Ashlee about Main Street Vegan. I am reading it right now and I kind of wish it was my first one I read. It is really detailed and straightforward and all that. :-)

For some fun reading I would read Skinny Bitch By Rory Freedman. I chuckled quite a bit when reading it as she says a lot of what I was thinking. :-) It to will tell you a lot of things you need to know.
