I am really excited that my lifestyle has become what it has become.  My children think their moms are crazy and I had an intense discussion with my oldest daughter about throwing the baby out with the bath water, but in the end of our discussion she said she would TRY to support my change in lifestyle.  I think she has always wanted to live a normal life and that has not been the way it has gone for her.  Our other children support us but have yet to change what they are doing with their food intake.  We don't push, but simply stay the course.

It has been an adventure finding the new foods that are so yummy and feeling the joy of living free of the karma within our relationship with our animal companions.  My only problem is our cats and our dog.  I am searching for some way of getting them their meat and not have it be from a negative source.    Any ideas from anyone would be very appreciated.

I purchased the movie Vegucated in order to have it here in case I ever decide to eat animal products again.  I hate having it in my home (I know I am alittle over the top about this), but knowing that it is has aided me so much in staying the course.  It took me 10 days to be able to stop the pictures from coming into my head and at times I get so upset, knowing that at this moment it is still happening.  I wonder what would happen if the president of our country saw the movie?  Just a thought.  Well I am happy to be a vegan and hope everyone else is having a great adventure as well.

Aw, Jade.  Thank you for sharing and a big congrats on 15 days vegan!!!  Holy moly, that is wonderful.  It sounds like you're physically thriving and karmically feeling awesome.  Oh so many beautiful benefits to veganism!

As for the images, the tension of having meat in your home, etc...just know that all of this is totally normal and you're not alone.  Heck, I've been vegetarian for 5 years and vegan for 3 and was just out to dinner with some non-veg folks tonight and it was trying!  I kept thinking, "Okay, we're splitting the bill and I had a salad and a side of beans (not much to offer at the Greek restaurant they chose, alas), and they had the lamb which was more expensive and I don't want to pay for that cruelty."  Sounds crazy, but until the whole world is vegan (we can hope), these little challenges pop up and we just deal with them as they come.

15 days is nothing to sneeze at!  Keep us posted on the many days thereafter. :)

Also, I have two rescue dogs, and they love their vegan dog food from V-Dog.  The owners are vegan and donate much of the profits to animal rescue and rights organizations.  And the food is nutritionally awesome and the dogs go bonkers for it: http://v-dog.com.  Maybe you can buy a small bag and see how your pooches enjoy it.

As for your cats, there are vegan and vegetarian foods out there, but from what I've heard from most vegans, they recognize that their cats require meat because evolutionarily, they are true carnivores.  The decision is up to you.  Here's the thread from the Forum on pets: http://vegucated.ning.com/forum/topics/pets, you'll probably get some good ideas and support here.
