Hi All! So glad to be a part of this group. My baby girl is turning 1 next month. Our pediatrician "encourages" us to feed her some animal products like cow's milk and eggs. My hubbie wants to take the Dr.'s advice of course, but I disagree. How do I bridge this gap? Do experts prescribe alternatives to cow's milk and eggs? I am very new to being 100% vegan (started Jan. 1st, 2013) and would appreciate advice given to other moms from their pediatricians who approve the vegan diet for infants. Any suggestions how I can get a vegan pediatrician?

Hey Erin, So sorry baby's doc is being unsupportive. Our pediatricians, while not vegan, are supportive as long as I take vitamin B12 (I'm breastfeeding). The best thing you can do is to get your hands on a copy of Disease-Proof Your Child by family physician, bestselling author Dr. Joel Fuhrman, who gives much factual evidence for the benefits of a plant-based diet for little ones. See if you can get your hubby and the pediatrician to read it--or if they won't, just summarize the important bits for them. It also has some good recipes that your LO will love.

Hi All.  I saw this recently in Girlie Girl Army.  Thought some of you new and expecting parents might find it helpful: http://girliegirlarmy.com/mamazon/20130108/how-friends-can-help-you...
